CDMS certified
Traffic measures at the Nuclear Security Summit
The road network in the Netherlands is expanding and becoming more innovative every day, e.g. with a growing number of traffic information systems informing the motorists about the current traffic and travel time. For a part of these traffic information systems Rijkswaterstaat developed the CDMS (Central DRIP Management System), a protocol for the universal communication between the traffic management centre and their VMS’s. With CDMS VMS’s can be controlled automatically or manually.
Mobile traffic information systems were not controllable with the CDMS to date. This changed because of the demand to control e.g. VMS-trailers from the traffic management centre. The advantages are obvious, especially with large scale roadworks and traffic diversions. Because of this, EBO van Weel has successfully applied for a CDMS certification for its VMS-trailers and mobile VMS’s.
A VMS-trailer or mobile VMS of EBO van Weel can be controlled with the CDMS from all traffic management centres in the Netherlands. This enables our VMS-trailers and mobile VMS’s to be part of e.g. predefined scenarios of Rijkswaterstaat.
